Coming to a home near you!

Mission Statement:

Empowering communities to nurture our children’s unique growth and development; fostering culture and language to promote confident and competent learners in a home based environment.

Philosophy Statement:

  • Mo Tatou was founded for all of us, and has been created to provide freedom of choice for Parents, Caregivers, Educators and Families to work, study and fulfil personal commitments or further career aspirations.  Parents, Caregivers and Families will have the confidence and trust that their children are being cared for and educated by an Educator of their choice, in a loving and supportive home environment.

  • We acknowledge the Pasifika perspective of the family role and behaviour of children; the importance of respect for parents and elders, and traditional religious and cultural values but recognise that parents and elders awareness of increasing participation in early childhood education is key in preparing children to enter school as capable and confident learners.

  • We believe that to uphold the partnership principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and acknowledge Māori as tangata whenua promotes celebrating, preserving and respecting the individuality of our diverse communities, languages, cultures and the strength of our collective resources.

  • We value the richness of language and culture that our Educators impart as part of a child’s learning experience.

  • We encourage children to be secure in their sense of belonging through the use of family and extended family as Educators.

  • We understand that continuous professional development for Visiting Teachers and Educators is pivotal in enriching children’s lives and providing them with the knowledge, skills and outlook they need to overcome new challenges.

  • We believe children, families and educators need to be empowered to be part of the solution in decision making processes through their contributions, participation and opinions.  Feedback should be sought, encouraged and valued for the merits they provide in building and improving the service.

  • We value the financial commitment of parents to contribute towards the quality of education and care that will support their child’s learning and development.

  • To ensure children are secure in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society we are committed to supporting Educators, parents, and families, through collaborative relationships with local community organisations and government departments.
